Last week I shared a photo of my Animal Welfare License from the State of Iowa and told you I would let you know why this piece of paper is important. I think most people are familiar with the inspection process, but they also have a web page where you can to see if a boarding facility if licensed and review their inspection forms.
One organization you may not be familiar with is the IBPSA or International Boarding and Pet Sitting Association. According to their website IBPSA is dedicated to providing the education and business resources their members need to create safe and responsible pet care services. I have been a member for more than a year, attended several educational webinars and am working on getting my Canine Pet Care Provider and Canine Pet Care Specialist certifications.
I was chatting with one of our kids today and one of our granddogs has started having separation anxiety. She's six years old and this started coming on in the last few months.....so we are a little baffled! My little dog Jess has had this for most of his life and I've never really known what to do about it. So I decided to do a little research and see what I could find about helping dogs through this very stressful situation... stressful for the dog and parents!
Here are a couple websites to check out:
If you've successfully helped your pup overcome separation anxiety please share your strategy in the comments section - you could help somebody else get through this stressful situation.
Of course you can always bring your fur baby to the River Bottom Dog Resort if you're going to be gone overnight... 'cause every dog wants to be a River Bottom Dog!
Hope to see you soon! Jodi
PS Summer is quickly coming to an end so make sure you get in that last vacation and make your reservation today so your dog can be a River Bottom Dog.
I'm DJ, everybody calls me Deeg, I didn't want to write this but my mom made me.....I'm a good boy! I'm the executive resort planner in charge of greeting and napping, semi-retired. I've been in the River Bottom a long time and know all kinds of things to get into.... I also have many treasures hidden on our 11 acres, but you'll never find them. I took one of my mom's flip-flops......she still has the other one 'cause she thinks she'll find it someday..... not happening (probably just lost my good boy status)! ;-)
Come visit us, I promise I will greet you with a friendly woof and a lot of tail wagging - then I will go nap. Speaking of naps, its that time!! One more thing, it is true every dog wants to be a River Bottom Dog!
